We had a rendezvous with the end of an age, And here we are, close-lipped, among you. And the Wind with us--drunk with a principle bitter and strong as ivy wine. Not summoned in conciliation, but irritable and singing to you: I will irritate the marrow in your bones."--from St. John Perse 2.10.
