A propos de cet article

Dash was an Indian scholar of Tibetan language and culture most noted for his two journeys to Tibet in 1879 and in 1881 1882. This book chronicles findings from his first expedition in 1879, which lasted 5 months. This limited edition (stamped copy No. 716 of 1000) was printed in India in 1970 from the original of 1881. It is part of the Bibliotheca Himalayica series promoted by Hal Kuloy - "the purpose of Bibliotheca Himalayica is to make available works on the civilizations and nature of central Asia and the Himalayas." Dark green cover with embossed edging and gold foil lettering on the spine. Slight fading inside cover and owners mark inside cover first page and second page. For over a half-century, he has been engaged in field studies, university professorships, and writing about the rich cultures of Bhutan, Nepal, North India, and Tibet. Along the way, he amassed an extensive library of Himalayan studies and has written several of his own, including two prize-winners. He has also been an editor for two regional magazines and has been called upon to review and pen chapters and forewords for Himalayan-oriented publications.…
