A propos de cet article

A very smart second edition of this uncommon post-war cook book, edited by English journalist Constance Peel. The second edition. Very scarce to find earlier copies. In the publisher's original illustrative cloth binding.Published the year after the end of the Great War, the book introduces with the sentiment that people should appreciate the skills they have developed of using food with more care and an economic mind. This collection of recipes covers stocks, soups, fish, poultry, meatless dishes, puddings, breakfast and breads and cakes.Edited by Constance Peel, credited here as Mrs C. S. Peel, an English journalist and writer known for her books on cheap household management and cookery. After the First World War, she worked on behalf of women, sitting on governmental committees. From the library of Jill Norman, an editor and food writer. Externally, very smart, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities and slight fading to the spine's cloth. Bookplate of Jill Norman to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting and the odd spot to the endpapers. Very Good.…
