xxi, 368, 24 (ads.) pp. 1872. Stated 'New Edition'. 12mo. sized. A very good, clean, tight copy in original publisher's brown cloth stamped with a black title to the front board and gilt title to the spine. Black endpapers. An attractive embossed contemporaneous gift card has been pasted down to the front paste-down. It states: 'To Miss U (or V) Robertson In Rememberance of a pleasant visit to Lawhope from a sincere friend Frederick Samuel August 1876'. Some light spotting to the endpapers including the title page. A crease across the upper corner of the rear endpaper. Some splitting to the rear inner hinge revealing some webbing, though the rear board remains firmly attached. The four board corners a little turned in. A very good, clean, tight well preserved copy.
