ABOUT THIS BOOK: The book is an exhaustive examination of the various techniques so far devised for the determination of non-intellectual components of behavior. The topics treated are observation, rating methods, adjustment, attitude and interest questionnaires, test of conduct, knowledge and judgment, free association tests, physiological concomitants of emotions, interviewing and psychoanalysis, case study methods, and measures of the environment. Extensive analyses of work done with these instruments are included. The author feels that the most promising direction for research is in the standardization of the interview, free association, and psychoanalytic methods, and that the most immediate promise is in questionnaires and rating methods; he feels that performance tests are important but costly to administer. Each chapter is concluded by a bibliography of from 10 to 140 items, and a general bibliography of 16 items is placed at the end of the volume.(American Psychological Association).
