Synopsis
Authenticity, integrity, confidentiality, and non-repudiation are the core requirements for any business transaction on the Internet. Digital signature (electronic credentials) has been recognized as the most secured practice for completely meeting these four requirements. This book provides a basic understanding of symmetric encryption, asymmetric encryption, and digital certification that takes place in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)-enabled applications. The emphasis is on practical survey of implementation of digital signature in India especially by the financial institutions, government departments and the judiciary system.

KAILASH N. GUPTA consultant Mauritian Information and Communications Technologies Authority (ICTA), has 40 years of valuable experience in the field of ICT. He was appointed the first Controller under the Indian Information Technology Act, 2000. In a record time of one year he successfully set up the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) in India resulting in safe and secure e-commerce and e-governance activities. He has held senior positions in the Department of Telecommunication of Govt. of India. He served as senior expert with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Geneva and as Head of India's Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), a prestigious R&D Centre of Govt. of India. KAMLESH N. AGARWALA is a management consultant with over thirty years of experience in the application of information and communication technologies in international banks, financial institutions and the corporate world. His expertise is in the adaptation of emerging technologies in business environment, judiciary and e-governance. He is currently researching on 'rural informatics' and 'e-Judicial Resource Management'. He has eight publications on emerging technologies to his credit. PRATEEK A. AGARWALA is an independent OCP [Oracle Certified Professional] IT Consultant. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas and a Master of Science degree in Information Systems from the Lawrence Technological University, Southfield Michigan. He has taught different classes and is currently researching for his doctorate degree at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad.
