A propos de cet article

Mixed-state set? (The publication years are not chronological.) Complete in 15 volumes, with the Index volume issued as Vol. XI and covering only the first 10 volumes (Vol. XV is stamped on the spine "Archives of the State of New-York: The Revolution. Vol. I). Each volume measuring approximately 10" x 12". Over 13,000 pages. With several fold-out maps and illustrations. Elaborately blindstamped black cloth with spines gilt. Nearly all volumes with restoration (to varying degrees) at the spine ends, joints, corner tips, and areas of the covers; two volumes appear to have been varnished. Ex-library from several sources with several institutional bookplates, one private bookplate and one private library stamp, a couple of library stamps, and several volumes with slight evidence of label removal on the rear endleaves; the preliminary and terminal leaves of many of the volumes have been treated with some sort of white masking fluid (not unlike thin white-out), presumably an early library practice. Bindings with wear and soil, three small instances of insect damage in the gutters, three volumes with some dampstaining mostly confined to the margins, one volume with a vertical split on the front pastedown, most volumes with the preliminary and terminal leaves foxed, a very few of instances of tape reinforcement (most notably a couple of tape reinforcements on the two maps in Vol. I), some of the paper stock tanned and occasional foxing in the text, a sound, about very good set; the text on the whole has been very preserved.…
