Synopsis :

Parent Guides are a resource that create trust, credibility and confidence in families to deal with issues affecting young people, in this case using and abusing drugs. We want to encourage open and honest conversations between parents, carers, teachers and young people, to educate and minimise harm. Drugs 101 aims to empower adults with information and strategies to help guide those important discussions. Drugs 101 explains what drugs are, who takes them and how to educate kids about them. It covers everything from marijuana to ecstasy and heroin, profiles former users, speaks to experts who help those with drug problems and provides links to useful resources and services.

À propos des auteurs: Cheryl Critchley is a freelance journalist with 30 years' experience on publications including the The Herald Sun, where, among other things, she covered education and wrote a parenting column. The Weekly Review's Education Editor, Cheryl has written six books. With three children, including two teenagers, she is entering unchartered waters when it comes to drugs.

Sarah Marinos has been a journalist for almost 30 years and has written extensively for newspapers and national magazines about physical and mental health, parenting and social and community issues. She has four children, three at high school. Researching and writing the first-person articles for this publication has been an informative and useful experience - and a wake-up call.

Eileen Berry is a journalist that has lived experiences in alcohol and drug addiction, mental health issues and domestic violence. In the twilight of her career she now wants to give back to the community. She has personally funded Drugs 101, Social Media 101, Sex 101 and Mental Health 101. With recent funding she has produced Respect 101.
