The front free has the ink signature of "Philip Freneau 1780" Philip Feneau, 1752-1832, New York born American poet, newspaper editor, sea captain, friend of James Madison, editior of The National Gazette,a newspaper supporting Jefferson and Madison which attacked the policies of Alexander Hamilton.
