Both books are leather bound, in a rich black colour, with gorgeous gilt titles on both the front boards and spines. Both books are in great condition considering they are over 100 years old. Normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Both volumes have light wear around the edges and volume I has small tear to base of first blank page. Tissue guard on titles pages. All pages in both volumes intact, nice tight bindings. All pages, text and illustrations are in really good, clean, readable order. First published by George Routledge & Sons Ltd, in 1922, Printed in Great Britain by The Mayflower Press, Plymouth. Preface in Volume I by Herbert Cescinsky. Volume I has 382 pages and Volume II has 387 pages plus many blank pages. Volume I focuses on the Woodworker, his life, tools and methods, along with plans of the early Tudor to Gothic Houses, Timber Property, The English Staircase, Wood Panelling and Bedsteads etc. Whilst Volume II concentrates on the Early furniture, from the chest and standing Cupboard, Tables, Chairs to Clocks etc. Please note both volumes are large, heavy books therefore international shipping may increase from listed price depending on final destination.
