First De Luxe edition of Two hundred and fifty copies, signed by A. Heaton Cooper, this being number One hundred and twenty three. Format, large quarto (277mm.) Physical description, ix, 230, [2]. With a half titlePlates, [75] including a Frontispiece, all coloured and with tissue guards. Top edges gilt, and all edges uncut. Contents clean. Sumptuous coloured art nouveau white cloth over bevel edged boards. Enclosed in an acid free clear wrapper. Overall, a splendid fine copy, and retaining the original red silk page marker. Cooper, Alfred Heaton (1864-1929), landscape artist, born in Manchester, one of six children of millworkers, brought up in Bolton, worked as a clerk after school, moved to London in 1884 and studied art under George Clausen, and was much influenced by Constable, Turner and Millais.
