A propos de cet article

Oversized hardcover with pale green cloth over boards, black lettering across spine. Spine faded to a pale tan shade, extending less intensely about half an inch onto each cover, roughly half a shade lighter than the rest of the covers. Very faint foxing across top and bottom edges of the covers. Lettering remains bright and clear. No date on title page. Copyright page dated only 1954. 367 pages. First and last page toned, other pages remain bright. Front free endpaper has notes from former owners Lincoln Brower (a notable conservationist and butterfly researcher) and his first wife, Jane Van Zandt. Top edge is inscribed "To Lincoln- Christmas 1955. Janie" (from Van Zandt), "L.P.and J. VZ. Brower" written beneat. A few pencil notes from Brower on the contents of the text. No further annotations throughout text, pages otherwise clean. Binding cracked along front hinge, revealing a glimpse at the backing linen. No pages are loose, covers remain attached. We've got a wonderful bookcase or two of books from Lincoln Brower's collection listed here. Everything you know about Monarch Butterflies, you know because of Brower's work, both scientific and outreach. He was a great teacher, an important researcher, a torch-bearing conservationist, and a leading light in lepidoptery. We are extremely excited to offer his books. Note: if there is a photo beside this listing, it s a STOCK photo that ABE put there (for reasons that we cannot understand or control) and might not match this actual book. Please email us with questions or to request photos.…

In warmer months we stay open until 9 most nights, but you might want to call ahead. (540) 373-6148 Shipping rates are for Media Mail, in a padded envelope - WE DO NOT ADD TRACKING UNLESS THE CUSTOMER REQUESTS IT AND PAYS FOR IT - we have been selling books online for more than 20 years & find that the USPO delivers 99.99% of packages quickly and safely, without any need for a tracking number. We trust them & we hope you will too. If you need tracking, please consider PRIORITY SHIPPING. We ship orders valued at more than $50 in a box, at no additional charge. Priority mailing is for a Flat-Rate envelope, with tracking included. If the book does not fit into a flat rate envelope, we will likely need to request extra shipping costs from you, in order to put it in a box. We only charge the actual amount of shipping, so we hope you'll understand that it's just a matter of getting the book to you without taking a loss on it -- shipping is a service we happily offer without a 'handling' charge.... but we can't afford to charge you less than the cost of the stamps!…
