Each year we learn that global heating keeps accelerating because of unrestrained burning of fossil fuels. People all over the world are experiencing increasingly devastating disasters like floods, droughts, wildfires, and violent storms. Everyone is affected by climate change. We are facing a huge crisis that urgently requires concerted climate action locally, state-wide, nationally, and globally.

This book lifts up the voices of climate champions who make the fight for a safe environmental future their top priority. All of them take individual initiatives to limit their carbon consumption. In addition, they act locally to protect their communities. Many work with national organizations or state chapters to promote legal action and spread information.

As we ponder how to deal with the climate crisis, one of the most important realizations is that we are not alone. The challenges are huge, and it will require all of us to deal with them. Every step toward healing the planet matters. The great news is that we can face the crisis together, in small but strong communities of advocates and activists around the world.

The book is divided into seven chapters. In each of them, readers listen to the voices of four to six climate champions on various paths toward climate solutions. A short list of suggestions for further reflection follows. They can be used as prompts for journaling or as topics for discussion in small groups.
