Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into a critical issue of the Cold War era: the threat of nuclear fallout. Written in the midst of the escalating arms race, the book provides a practical guide for citizens on how to prepare for the potential devastation of a nuclear attack. The author, drawing on the scientific knowledge of the time, explains the dangers of radioactive fallout and provides detailed instructions on how to build and improve fallout shelters in the home. The book goes beyond simple survival tactics, exploring the psychological and social implications of nuclear war. It underscores the importance of community preparedness, highlighting the limitations of individual shelters while simultaneously advocating for the establishment of public shelters. This approach reflects the anxieties of the era, as people sought both personal and collective solutions to a terrifying threat. The book's focus on constructing shelters in the basement, a common feature of American homes at the time, speaks to the pervasive fear of nuclear war that permeated society and shaped domestic life. Ultimately, this book offers a glimpse into a specific moment in history, revealing the anxieties, resourcefulness, and anxieties of a nation facing the unprecedented threat of nuclear war. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781527851450_0
