Blue cloth boards with teal A and M monogram and gilt lettering to front and spine. Mild shelf wear with a hint of color loss along edges, binding tight. Previous owner's name in ink to front free endpaper; charitable donor stamp of the Darien Book Aid Plan, Darien, Connecticut to front pastedown. Moderate toning to endpapers, mild to moderate foxing to text block edges, occasional spotting; pages otherwise unmarked. Illustrated jacket with cover painting by Arthur Shilstone. A 3-inch tear along the fold of the front flap and several smaller nicks, tears, and creases along the edges. Moderate shelf wear and color loss along edges and throughout, soiling and spotting to both front and back panels, overall toning.
