This was the second book published in Lutterworth's "Collected Edition" of the works of Richard Jefferies. First published in1889, it was the first of what has become many posthumous collections of Jefferies' nature writings gathered from various newspapers and magazines. This one was edited by his widow, Jessie, and the publisher has dedicated this edition to her (she died in 1926). With Introduction and Notes by Samuel J. Looker, including biographical and bibliographical notes, and with wonderful wood engravings by Agnes Miller Parker including several full page. This is a superb copy. There's a name on front endpaper, hidden under the jacket flap, but otherwise a fine copy in a very near fine, unclipped dust jacket, with just a hint of rubbing to rear panel. MC.
