Genetic and Evolutionary Computing: Proceedings of the Twelfth International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing, December 14-17, Changzhou, Jiangsu, China

This volume of Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing highlights papers presented at the 12th International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing (ICGEC 2018). Held from 14 to 17 December 2018 in Changzhou, Jiangsu, China, the conference was co-sponsored by Springer, Changzhou College of Information Technology, Fujian Provincial Key Lab of Big Data Mining and Applications, Fujian University of Technology, National Demonstration Center for Experimental Electronic Information and Electrical Technology Education, Fujian University of Technology, Tajen University, National University of Kaohsiung, and Shandong University of Science and Technology, China. The conference is intended as an international forum for the researchers and professionals in all areas of genetic and evolutionary computing.

Jeng-Shyang Pan is currently professor and dean of School of Information Science and Engineering, Fujian University of Technology, Fuzhou, China. He received the B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in 1986, the M.S. degree in Communication Engineering from the National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan in 1988, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, U.K. in 1996. He is Fellow of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK. In 2012, Prof. Pan was named in "National 1000-Talent Plan" in China. His current research interests include soft computing, information security, big data mining and signal processing. Prof. Pan has published more than 500 research papers in academic journals and conferences with h-index of 39. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing and International Journal of Innovative Computing, Information and Control.

Jerry Chun-Wei Lin currently works as Associate Professor at Department of Computing, Mathematics, and Physics, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Bergen, Norway. He received his Ph.D. degree from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan in 2010. He has published more than 250 research papers in referred journals and conferences. Prof. Lin is currently Editorial Board member of journal Intelligent Data Analysis, Associate Editor of Journal of Internet Technology, and IEEE Access. Prof. Lin is also the Editor-in-Chief of journal Data Science and Pattern Recognition. The research fields of Prof. Lin's Intelligent Knowledge Engineering Lab include data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, social computing, multimedia and image processing, and privacy-preserving and security technologies.

Sui Bixia is a full professor and a vice president of Changzhou College of Information Technology. She graduated in Power System and Automation from South East University in 1985. Engaged in computer-related specialty construction, talent cultivation and scientific research for many years, Sui Bixia has attained outstanding achievements in teaching and research. She is a national outstanding teacher and the leader of a national teaching team, and has won 1 State Award for Outstanding Teaching Achievements and 5 Provincial Awards for Outstanding Teaching Achievements. She has finished many projects such as the construction of Jiangsu Embedded Software Technology Research and Development Center, National Teaching Resource Database of Software Technology Specialty, a National Excellent Course, and a National Excellent Resource Sharing Course, and has published more than 50 academic papers/books.

Shih-Pang Tseng was born in 1968. He received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan in 1992; and the Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Entertainment Technology, Tajen University, Pingtung, Taiwan. He got the excellent research award of Tajen University. He is the director of Taiwan Association for Web Intelligence Consortium. He is also the executive of the MOST AI Robot and Orange Application Alliance, Taiwan. This alliance focus on the cooperation of universities and industries. He has been the local co-chair of ICWL2013, program co-chair of NCS2015 and the program chair of NCWIA2018. His current research interests include artificial intelligence, learning technology, and internet-of-things.
