Includes frontispiece of the Soldiers? National Monument. Tipped-in advertising slip for the book at rear. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. A scarce early (if not first) edition of a local child?s view of the Battle of Gettysburg, published over two decades following the battle. Tillie Pierce (1848-1914) was a Gettysburg native who was in the middle of the Battle of Gettysburg, having been sent to a home near Big Round Top by her parents with the belief that the area would be safer.
