Synge definitely sums up this extraordinary book: " this procession of fishermen, farmers and women where nearly everyone is interesting and attractive". The Irish are extremely good copy as everyone will tell you and there are so many memorable characters here. More like photography than fiction, it reports the west of Ireland in just the right words. Insights into a very different but rewarding way of life. Condition good to fair. Tightly bound and clean throughout, yellowing and tanning on cover and end pages, foxing and slight scoring on outer page edging. Thumb-marking present. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Library sticker to spine.
