A propos de cet article
1894. Half title, plate; occasional light browning to margins. Not in BL; not recorded on Copac or OCLC. The story follows quite a complicated plot of a man murdered under dubious circumstances after rising rapidly to a high position in the Gordon Dock Company. The work is laden with different forms of evidence to drive the narrative, including witness statements, reproduced detective notes, and even a plate which serves as one of the key clues: a piece of blotting paper with mirror writing. Not much is known of the author Henry Allen Ashton. The only other work under the same name which Copac lists is One Clear Call: An Explanation and a Reminder, seemingly a pamphlet expounding the advantages of voluntarism, presumably relating to conscription. 2. OHNET, Georges. The Rival Actresses, Vizetelly & Co. (no.XXXII Vizetelly's One-Volume Novels), 1889. 3. PHILLPOTTS, Eden. Summer Clouds and Other Stories, illustrated by Harrold Copping, twentieth thousand, Raphael Tuck & Sons. (No.2. The Breezy Library), [1893]. 4. CUTHELL, Edith E. Lady Lorrimer's Scheme and The Story of a Glamour, Cassell and Company, 1893. 5. BELLAMY, Edward. Oetzmann on leading pastedown. An attractive copy.…
