VeriTalks Volume 3, Grief, is adapted from The Veritas Forum at Mayo Clinic in 2011. In this brief but wide-ranging essay, Yale professor emeritus Nicholas Wolterstorff argues for an approach to grief that goes beyond "getting over it." Wolterstorff covers the metaphysical nature of grief, suggestions for incorporating grief into our narrative identity, and practical advice about what to say—and not to say—as a friend, counselor or doctor consoling a grieving person. Each volume in the VeriTalks series is a transcription of a live Veritas Forum talk and audience Q&A interspersed with discussion questions to deepen your engagement with the material, ideally in the company of friends.
À propos de l?auteur: Nicholas Wolterstorff received his BA from Calvin College and his PhD in philosophy from Harvard University. He has taught at Yale and at his alma mater, Calvin College. After concentrating on metaphysics at the beginning of his career, he spent a good many years working primarily on aesthetics and philosophy of art. In more recent years, he has been concentrating on epistemology, philosophy of religion, and political philosophy.
