A propos de cet article

Arcadia Publishing, Published 2011. Paperback, 127 pp.; 24 cm; Images of America series; illustrated throughout with black-and-white photographs. In Very Good condition. Sepia-toned pictorial covers with light bumping to edges and mild shelf wear. Binding tight. A few tiny spots to title, dedication and contents pages. Otherwise unmarked. The park, which lies in the shadow of the Hollywood sign, has been a frequent filming site for legendary movies like Back to the Future, Birth of a Nation, and Rebel Without a Cause. Photographs largely from Bison Archives, the entertainment-history collection Wanamaker founded in 1973. The Hollywood's Backlot chapter covers filming in Bronson Canyon and elsewhere in the park, from John Wayne serials of the 1930s and the Three Stooges through Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Something of Value with Sidney Poitier, AIP's teen pictures of the 1950s, and Star Trek VI. Contents: Acknowledgments; Introduction; The Colonel's Grand Gift; Los Angeles at Play; Hollywood's Backlot.…
