A propos de cet article

Trade Paperback. Couple of very small marks to back cover. This booklet sets out in simple note form the essence of the law on historic buildings and sites, summarised from many Acts of Parliament and certain Regualtions and Directions under the Planning Acts. The gist of certain Ministry Circulars is also included. It is hoped that this summary guide may be of some help to Authorities generally, and to societies or individual people interested in the problem of protecting the national heritage of fine architecture, buildings or sites with historic associations, or just the pleasant character of towns and villages. The focus of attention on the powers and policies for conervation of historic towns and villages is especially important for European Architectural heritage Year 1975 - and perhaps even more so after then. In this latest edition David Pearce has brought us up to date by assembling all the pertinent information required by those of us who are closely concerned with these important elements in the planned enivronment. The law relating to historic buildings and conservation is one thing, but the operation of controls is another. The booklet provides us with a tool which should be used with care and informed judgement at a time when local government reoorgaisation has brought about sweeping changes and fragmentation of the planning machinery. I hope that this booklet will be used as a component part of the planning process and not merely as an accessory. 79 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.).…
