This book is a comprehensive analysis of Russian literature from the 1820s to the 1890s, a period of great social, political, and cultural change in Russia. The author traces the development of Russian literature from its early roots in oral tradition to its emergence as a major force in world literature. The book explores the major themes and ideas that preoccupied Russian writers during this period, including the search for national identity, the struggle for individual freedom, and the role of art in society. The author also provides close readings of some of the most important works of Russian literature, including "Eugene Onegin" by Alexander Pushkin, "Dead Souls" by Nikolai Gogol, and "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy. This book is an essential resource for anyone interested in Russian literature, and it offers a unique perspective on the social and cultural history of Russia during the 19th century.
