A propos de cet article

2 vols. 372p; 386p. REBOUND. A pair of large hardcover books that have been rebound in 3/4 brown leather with marbled boards and endpapers. Pages toned and mildly foxed with age. Some light wear to some page corners as well, due to years of page-flipping. Small closed tear at bottom of volume 2's frontispiece has been neartly repaired with clear tape. Otherwise, text unmarked and binding tight. The new binding is still nearly pristine, with hardly any signs of handling except for scant rubbing at the tips of the spines. Very good condition overall. Scottish cleric and historia Gilbert Burnet (1643-1715) originally published this work as a defense of the English Reformation against a polemic by Catholic priest Nicholas Sanders. Offered here are volumes 1 and 2, covering the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I; does NOT include the supplementary volume 3. Volume 1 is a second edition (pub. 1681) and volume 2 is a fourth edition (1715). Both volumes measure approx. 13" x 8.25".
