Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book journeys through the history of over 200 gardens in Virginia, with text and images, with special attention given to those sites that have been well preserved and are rich in history. The author seeks to build on the efforts of previous books on the history of Virginia gardens. This book is written from the perspective of garden enthusiasts and those with a devotion to the culture of the Old South. The book includes information about the owners of the gardens, many of whom were titans of industry, famous politicians, or military heroes. Also discussed are the gardeners and enslaved peoples whose labor and techniques produced these wonders of landscaping, fruit and vegetables, and flowers both humble and rare. The volume provides historical details about the gardens, many of which include photographs, drawings, and plans, so that readers far and wide can appreciate the rich horticultural legacy of Virginia. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9780282336882_0
