The goal of the Historical Dictionary of UNESCO is to make transparent what UNESCO does, how it does it, what some of the effects of its work have been, and how it organizes to accomplish its goals. A result of a joint effort of faculty and graduate students from a number of UNESCO Member States at the University of Pittsburgh, the Dictionary includes an extensive bibliography of significant articles and books about the organization, as well as key publications by UNESCO. An extensive chronology is included, listing a sampling of program, budget, administrative, and other events for the entire period of UNESCO's existence (through the mid-1990s) to give a flavor of how the organization evolved. À propos de l?auteur: Dr. Seth Spaulding is a former Director of the Institute for International Studies in Education at the University of Pittsburgh, and now serves as Senior Advisor. He has been a Principal Director in the Education Sector of UNESCO and Director of UNESCO's International Bureau of Education in Geneva, Switzerland. Lin Lin is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Administrative and Policy Studies in the School of Education, University of Pittsburgh.
