A propos de cet article

Boxhall's two volume history of Australian bushranging was first published in 1899, with editions following in 1902, 1908, 1916 and this fifth in 1924. (Only Vol 1offered here.) Bushranging was unique to Australia and began soon after the first convicts were able to escape and secure a horse and gun. When captured their fate was inevitably swift and final. Their acts were equally grim and terrible. All these events and their counter actions were recorded by Boxall. Volume one takes the story to 1863 and has 16 chapters. One of the publisher's Platypus Series. 235 pages, art paper front pastedown list the series, art paper FFEP has Percy Lindsay colour painting of a mounted horseman, b/w frontis is "Governor Davey's Proclamation to the Aborigines", sprinkle foxing half title, text block otherwise excellent, no inscriptions, RFEP browned, slight foxing last few pages. Red hard covers with black front/spine titles bright and clean with hint wear corners, spine extremities.
