Item description from seller

[1977] FIRST REPRODUCTION by Fairfax Press. Hardcover (blue binding, gilt lettering) and Dustjacket, illustrated, direct reproduction of the original published in 1894. Includes list of Confederate ships (and when destroyed), along with comprehensive Index, 824 pages. Condition of hardcover: Some paper residue at extremities of endpapers where Fairfax Press affixed new endpapers and front matter to a copy of the original textblock of the 1894 edition and a very faint stain at the foot of the fore-edge; else overall Near Fine. Dustjacket: Faint toning at top extremity, two short tears at top of spine panel; else overall Very Good Plus. Free of the smoky smell of a cigarette or cigar smoker. Kept in temperature-controlled room by book collector. The author, himself, an officer of the late Confederate States Navy, describes the great struggle with the Navy of the United States at the time of the War Between the States, the engagements fought on the rivers and harbors of the South and upon the high seas; blockade-running; the first use of iron-clads and torpedoes; and the history of privateers. This book was written a score of years after the end of the Civil War and in large part is based on research and interviews with Confederate naval officers, supplemented with the author's first-hand observations (the text is a reprint of the 1894 book with a current binding and dustjacket). Historical. Collectible. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly.

Description de la boutique

We are a well-established, well-respected book dealer who is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. Book club editions and library books along with books without dustjackets (if they came with dustjackets) are pointed out in our descriptions. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion. It's your assurance that the book we describe is as close as possible to the book you will receive. In business since 1991, we typically have the highest ratings on major web sites. It will be a pleasure to serve you. R. Siedlecki R. Siedlecki Vintage Books
