A propos de cet article
A very handsome set of the four volumes, 1877-1878, in original publisher's blue pebbled and decoratively blind-stamped cloth with gilt image incorporating three fishes on each front board. Dark brown endpapers. Top edges untrimmed so that any pairs of text leaves between plates are unopened. 252 delicately hand-coloured, tissue-guarded engraved plates by Benjamin Fawcett of Driffield. Set-off of the first three main lines of printed title onto the frontispiece of Volume 2, and very slight set-off of frontispiece onto tile page of volume 4 by way of revenge.Short scratchto rear cloth of vol 1 with loss of 3mmx1mm, some darker blotches just noticeable on front cover of volume 4. Otherwise the condition of this important set is fine and the above meticulously mentioned blemishes scarcely detract. A very heavy set that may incur extra shipping costs.…
