A propos de cet article

A scarce documentation of the history of Merchant-Taylors' School, from its foundation up until the time of publishing. In the original quarter cloth binding, with publisher's boards. Second edition of the work. First published in 1812. This work is a comprehensive history of Merchant-Taylors' School, comprised of two parts. The first part presents the schools founders, patrons, benefactors and masters, while the sendon documents its principal scholars. Merchant Taylors' School is still operational today, located in London and founded in 1561. Compiled by Harry Bristow Wilson, a rector of the United parishes of St Mary Aldremary and St Thomas the Apostle. With six plates to the rear of the work, and a table of the masters of Merchant-Taylors' school from 1707-1812.With a library bookplate of Cardiff Free Library, alongside a 'Withdrawn from Stock' stamp, to the front paste down. In the original quarter cloth binding, with publisher's boards. Externally, worn with bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. Slight loss to the boards and to the cloth. Marks to boards. Hinges failed between paste down and endpaper, held on by backstrip, which is also partly detaching. Library bookplate to front paste down and the odd library stamp. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with the occasional light spotting. Pages 393-400 printed in duplicate after page 760. Lacking pages 761-768. Good Only.…
