FIRST EDITIONS, nine volumes with frontispieces (all but one of which colour-printed), further illustrations, paperstock to eleventh volume faintly toned, 8vo, original boards of different colours, backstrips lettered in gilt, the first four volumes with matching colours to top edges, one volume with a couple of very faint spots to fore-edge, dustjackets, one with publisher's re-pricing sticker to front flap, none clipped, a hint of fading to the backstrip panel of volume 9, volume 11 with tiny nick at head of backstrip panel, near fine. A superb set of this monumental expansion of the author's imaginative world, drawing on material - prose, poetry, and pictures - from throughout his career.
