Complete in seven volumes.William Russell was a Scottish historical and miscellaneous writer.Looking at the history of Europe from the rise of the Modern Kingdom and the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, to the Peace of Paris in 1763. With an account of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire and a continuation brought up to date until the establishment of the Austrian power in Italy in 1821.Compiled in a series of letters from the author to his son, here published anonymously. Rebound in full calf with five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine, titles in gilt to morocco spine labels, renewed endpapers, marbled edges. Externally generally sound with minor shelf wear, lightly chipped to head and tail of spine with minor light loss to head of spine vol. I and V, partial loss to spine title label vol. V and VI. Cracking along joints, boards holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting affecting first and last few leaves as well as odd leaf of text throughout, pages otherwise generally bright and clean. Good.
