A propos de cet article

A smart copy of this fictional account of the mutinies at Spithead and the Nore, from William Johnson Neale. A fictionalised account of two important mutinies for the British Royal Navy. The Spithead and Nore mutinies were major mutinies by sailors of the Royal Navy in 1797, the first in an increasing series of outbreaks of maritime radicalism in the Atlantic World. The actions of these sailors were extremely concerning for Britain as the country was at war with Revolutionary France, and the Navy was the main component of the war effort. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities, with the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and the odd pencil mark or annotation. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper with the bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Very Good.…
