Patrick Fraser Tytler?s History of Scotland, issued around 1875 by William Mackenzie in London, Edinburgh, and Glasgow, covers Scottish political and church history in a four-volume set divided into nine tomes. Spanning events from the 13th century to the early 1600s, the work includes an extended focus on Mary, Queen of Scots. This illustrated edition features contributions from John Eadie on the Scottish church, along with finely produced color-engraved title pages. Numerous steel engravings depict ecclesiastical structures, portraits, and regional maps. Presented in quarto format, each volume measures approximately 11 by 9 inches. The full pagination across the set reads 452, 456, 392, 360, and xxvi pages. Condition: Very Good. Gilt cloth bindings show rubbing at the corners and edges; covers remain firm and gilt titles legible. Text blocks are tight. Engravings and leaves are clean. #50174. PHOTOS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
