Narrative of an attack by a band of Sioux after a long, desperate winter in the northeast of Iowa in March of 1857. Sparcely populated, many of the settlers were killed. The author and three other women were taken captive, Miss Gardner was ransomed four months later. Reprinted many times. A little wear, rubbing, dark stain at fore-corner of the front board. Top half of the rear endpapers separating, showing netting, the rear board still soundly attached. A Very Good copy.
