Contemporary full red morocco by Watkins (their ticket to front pastedown), sides richly gilt-decorated, spine with raised bands and richly gilt-decorated compartments, gilt inner dentelles, yellow-coated endpapers, all edges gilt. Text printed in two columns. With an inscription to flyleaf reading: 'Presented to Mr. & Mrs. R. Balfour Stevenson, with the kind regards and good wishes of the Revd. James C. and Mrs. Herdman. Calcutta, 7th March 1853'. Lower front joint with slight crack, minor indent at top edges of binding, generally a very goodhandsome copy.
