Synopsis :

Student's Edition. Hot Ice introduces drama to students involved in classical and/or Christian education (grades 7 to 12). Using primary sources, Hot Ice explains the Greek and Roman origins of the theatre, introduces the principles of Aristotle and Horace, and integrates literature and history across the curriculum. Additionally, Hot Ice examines the sometimes hostile relationship between the stage and the church, and explores the moral and ethical responsibilities of the theatre community from the earliest times.

Discussion questions, activities, and learning games enliven the class, developing students’ critical thinking skills and acting abilities. Hot Ice also incorporates elements of classical education, such as logic, the progymnasmata, and Greek and Latin.

À propos de l'auteur:

Eileen Cunningham holds an MA in European History and has taught for nearly forty years. In addition to teaching, she has published an ancillary study guide for international students to accompany Sociology in a Changing World by William Kornblum (Harcourt, 1993) and co-authored a study guide for The Scarlet Pimpernel (Progeny, 2010). She is also the co-author of Writing the Classical Way (2013) and the author of Classical Quills (2015), both from Lochinvar Press.

Marcee Cosby has performed in many theatres throughout the United States and has been a regular performer at the Great Plains Theatre equity house in Abilene, Kansas, for eight years. She privately studied music, acting, and dance in New York City and has taught music and theatre to students from Pre-K to 12th grade for over twenty years. She is also the director and owner of a music studio for children under the age of five. For the past six years, she has been the theatre director/teacher at the Classical School of Wichita.
