Fifth Printing 1946 Hardcover. Condition: Orange cloth wrapped boards with black diagnoal lines, gilt lettering stamped on spine. Wear on corners, edges. Binding square.Endsheets have some tanning spots. Pages tanned on edges, inside lighter. 307 clean, tightly bound pages. Dust Jacket: Fiar due to wear on edges, especially top and bottom of spine area. Flap says a book of the month club selection. Top corner of flap clipped, leaving a tiny bit of $ sign. DJ has fifth printing on flap. DJ lightly tanned. DJ in plastic cover. Dust Jacket . In a superb Arthur Hawkins, Jr. dust jacket showing light wear and slight chips. The Arthur Hawkins dust jacket design has a towering, skyscrapers dwarfing two yellow cabs. MGM adapted the novel to the screen, with Clark Gable and Deborah Kerr in the leads, and a staggering supporting cast. Dust jacket is now preserved in a clear, removable archival protector.
