A propos de cet article

Two volumes bound within single book - both volumes sharing the same London 1795 imprint. Paged as i-viii, i-xcviii, 1-213, [1], [4], 1-385, [1], [26]. Probable late 19th century rebinding with replaced endpapers . Half-leather binding - dark green leather spine and marbled paper boards with leather corners. Spine scuffed with old glue repairs to short tears at head; chipping to spine's dark maroon title label but with gilt lettering intact and easily legible; boards rubbed with worn corners particularly front board's top corner which has lost leather. Mid-20th century owner's name ink stamp on fore-edge and ffep with 1958 invoice from a London bookseller to a Texas customer laid-in at rear endpapers. Old pencil note on ffep verso; ink inscription dated 1874 on first half-title verso with antiquarian ink writing on opposing Vol. I title page; some foxing on initial and rear leaves; antiquarian ink writing on Vol. II half-title verso. Binding is firm. **** Vol. 1 - ISAIAH. A NEW TRANSLATION; WITH A PRELIMINARY DISSERTATION, AND NOTES CRITICAL, PHILOLOGICAL, AND EXPLANATORY. BY ROBERT LOWTH, D.D. F.R. SS. LOND. AND GOETTING.
