First edition, LIMITED to only 775 numbered copies. With the 20 page facsimile reproduced with special colours by offset, additionally illustrated throughout the accompanying text, the text finely produced by Stamperia Valdonega in Verona, Italy. The text Monotype Garamond printed in letterpress on fine Italian paper. 4to, The facsimile is bound in wrappers of blue ribbed paper by Fabriano and laid into a special pocket in the rear of the text volume, which is bound in blue cloth lettered on the spine in gilt, in the original printed dustjacket of matching Fabriano paper and in original slipcase of Fabriano covered boards. viii, 110; [20] pp. A pristine and as new copy still in the publisher's original shipping wrapper, entirely unused, in short, this is a perfect copy. Images supplied here are from an alternative copy, as this one was never removed from its wrapper. EXTREMELY SCARCE LIMITED EDITION BEAUTIFULLY PRODUCED BY THE STAMPERIA VALDONEGO FOR THE CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS AND INSTITUTE OF TRADITIONAL SCIENCE, PRODUCED FROM BLAKE'S MANUSCRIPT AT THE FITZWILLIAM MUSEUM. AN ISLAND IN THE MOON is a dramatic satire critical for our understanding of William Blake at a formative stage of his development both as poet and producer of his "Illuminated Printing". "Here we have Blake's most playful expression as a satirist, and the beginnings of the SONGS OF INNOCENCE AND OF EXPRESSION, including three of the Songs in the draft" - dustjacket. Michael Phillips, of Edinburgh University has publications on William Blake which include "Interpreting Blake" and "William Blake Essays in Honour of Sir Geoffrey Keynes. Haven O'More was Director of the Institute of Traditional Science and was Associate Trustee of the William Blake Trust until the death of Sir Keynes. He is also famous for assembling one of the greatest private libraries of the 20th Century, the famed "Garden" collection of books and manuscripts.
