A propos de cet article

2 vols.: viii, 430 + viii, 370 p.; 23 cm. 128 letters; text of Lord Ebury's Acts of Uniformity amendment bill 1863, and index. Richard Whately wrote, probably to Hildyard, from the Archbishop's Palace, Dublin: Dec. 10, 1959 - `Rev. This latter is what I understood Lord Ebury to have in view. As for my own views upon some of the points that are debated, it may be worth while to mention that I very much concur with Archbishop Sumner, with the late Bishop Ryder, and Mr. Simeon, from whose works I have extracted some passages in the appendix to my little tract on the Sacraments.' (Life and correspondence, 1866, vol. 2, p. 377 f.) To another party: `Now to me it appears that true Christianity is a very quiet and deliberate religion. It keeps the steam acting on the wheels, instead of noisily whizzing out at the safety valve.' (p. 379) Fair set in slate cloth, backstrips chipped and abraded.…
