The Menu a pamphlet c. 21.5 x 13 cms in blue wrappers illustrated with an engraving, containing 16 pages sewn-in, of which 6pp are each printed with text plus an engraved illustration. Couple of wrapper corners just slightly creased, else excellent. The Invitation a simple card c. 22 x 10.5 cms with engraved illustration and details of the meeting including a visit to the collection and library of the Armouries of the Tower of London. About 100 copies only designed and printed by David Chambers. A delicious spoof pamphlet based on the 1829 publication The Epicurean Practices Of Some Of The Numerous Animals & Birds In The Tower Menagerie illustrated by William Harvey's animal portraits engraved on wood by Branston & Wright. This DCC version includes the original descriptions and Harvey illustrations of the Cape Lion or Felis Leo, the Caracal or Felis Caracal, and the Secretary Bird or Mackay Milleris : and adds a new species The Double Crown Club, or Praetor in Sella Curuli, a pair of peacock-like birds with crown-like ruffs. 'Like the Boa Constrictor, this group of typographic cognoscenti is inclined to eat well but infrequently.
