A smart copy of this epic poem inspired by the author's own tours of Italy, from English poet Samuel Rogers. Illustrated with many woodcuts throughout. A poem inspired by the author's own tours of Italy during which time he kept a full diary of events and impressions. He spent time in Naples as well as visiting Byron and Shelley at Pisa. The work was at first a failure, but Rogers was determined to make it a success and so enlarged and revised the poem, as well as commissioning illustrations. Written by Samuel Rogers, a celebrated English poet during his lifetime. Bound in full vellum. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with minor discolouration to the boards as is typical with ageing. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the extremities. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good. N° de réf. du vendeur 917T88
