About the AuthorKristin Rubianes is a Registered Dental Hygienist with an associate degree in Applied Science. While she helps people improve their smiles, her greatest joy is causing them to smile. This is especially true when it comes to her husband and two children. She put a hold on her professional life to soak up as many smiles of her young sons as she could.
While pregnant with her first child, she became overwhelmed with the thought of safety concerns for her unborn child. She studied peer reviewed and evidence-based publications covering every aspect of infant safety.
Two and half years later, she became pregnant with her second son, as many moms do, she worried about how her first child would handle the shift in attention. She was also now faced with new safety challenges regarding the baby. She not only needed to prepare her child for the reality of a new sibling, but to educate him in an age-appropriate way how to keep the baby from harm’s way.
Kristin hand wrote a book to teach her then 2 ½ year old some basics of infant safety, using very selective printed photos from the internet. Her son responded to the book with curiosity and interest. He asked many questions, as he began to prepare himself in his own head for his brother’s arrival.
The effectiveness of the book was evident once her second son arrived. She knew she had to share her book with other likeminded parents and caregivers. Therefore, she recreated the book to give it pure realness, enhancing its value for all its readers.
