Hardcover. Etat : Good. This 436 pp. indexed Hardbound reprints a 1949 original, for the Time-Life series "CLASSICS OF WORLD WAR II". Photos interspersed with a pristine fold-out map of Malaya, tipped-in the rear. Like all in this series, beautifully bound with LEATHER spine & corners with Gilt page edges & sewn-in silk page marker. The book is externally great, and looks it. --- The book must have been exposed to water at some point in the past, as most of the pages have a slight "waviness" in the lower front quadrant, of each page. For clarity, there is virtually no staining, leaving the book totally readable, But the above must be mentioned for total accuracy. Priced down accordingly. N° de réf. du vendeur 1811

Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. Chapman's classic account of three harrowing years behind Japanese lines in Malaya during the Second World War. As a British officer working with local resistance groups, he endured disease, isolation, starvation, and constant pursuit. His central idea ? that the jungle is neither friend nor foe, but neutral ? underpins a narrative of endurance, adaptability and psychological resilience. One of the most respected survival and guerrilla-warfare memoirs of the 20th century. Split to front cover, minor loss to edges of dust jacket. N° de réf. du vendeur 50219
