1907. No Edition Remarks. 288 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth covered boards with gilt lettering. Contains black and white photographic plates. Contains in-text line drawn illustrations throughout. Fold out maps. Rough cut on two edges. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout, heavier at end-papers, paste-downs and text-block edges. Plates are bright and clear. Previous owner's inscription to front free end-paper. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Hinges are cracked with exposed netting. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains. Book has a slight forward lean. Sunning to spine. Gilt lettering is darkened. [NOTE: according to the book's 'List of Illustrations', that of 'Signatures of the Empress of Austria and her sister' is not present.] Complete (as originally issued) with printed Errata slip toipped-in to gutter at p.xiv. Intro. by Charles Landis. Slightly soiled spine very faded, and moderately crushed at top/tail, but complete/intact/robust; lightly soiled boards very slightly faded at edges, but robust; moderate foxing to fore/bottom edges; light browning to front free-endpaper, but text/plates/maps fresh, pages crisp and very clean/bright. Binding firm, all intact. No inscriptions. Hardcover. Etat : Good. 1907. No D/J. Boards are different than depicted being red cloth which are grubby with faded (inc. gilt titles) spine. Front hinge paper has cracked but all very firm. The untrimmed pages, plates & their protective tissues are in very good condition (errat sheet included) being free of any inscription/ annotations or creases, however have the very occasional usage mark & spot of foxing especially to closed outside edge.
