Nova turns sixteen.

That same morning, a dark ring appears on her arm.

The final mark.

To the people of Luwte, it means only one thing: her final summer has begun. She is given flowers, gifts, a book of wishes and the promise of a peaceful journey to the Restlands.

But Nova does not feel ill.

She wants to know why no one can explain exactly what is happening to her - and why everyone seems willing to accept that her future has already been decided.

With a ratchet spanner in her jacket and more questions than answers, Nova leaves her island. Along the way, she meets Milo, a boy who officially does not exist in the register.

Together, they move closer to a truth that has been hidden for years.

Beneath the clouds lie islands no one above is supposed to see. People who never returned. Registers in which every name has a purpose.

What Nova discovers changes not only what she believes about her own life, but everything she thought she knew about her mother, her sister and the world she grew up in.

Going back becomes harder with every answer.

But telling the truth may have consequences for far more people than Nova alone.

The Last Summer of Nova is an adventurous young adult fantasy about freedom, identity, family and the question of who has the right to decide what someone's future should be.
