A propos de cet article

[1-56566-063-3] 1994. (hardcover) Near fine. 72pp. 4to. A fictional account of a young Sioux warrior and his quest for knowledge in the 19th century, written in consultation with Arthur Amiotte, Lakota artist, art historian, author, and educator. The young man goes from his home on the great plains to a boarding school where he learns settler ways and the value of his own traditions. A tribute to the narrative pictographs recorded by artists in the ruled ledgerbooks the artists acquired in trade. Text is in calligraphy done by Serelda Bedsole. Marble patterned endpapers. A simple story, inspired by actual events of interest to those who want to learn more about Indigenous art and history. Dark green cloth, paper paste downs to front and rear, black font to spine. Winner of the 1995 Christoph Award / Books for Young People category. There is an inscription penned to the front free endpaper; else is fine.
