Lessing's Nathan The Wise is a play written by German author Gotthold Ephraim Lessing in 1779. The play is set in Jerusalem during the time of the Crusades and explores themes of religious tolerance and human understanding. The story revolves around Nathan, a Jewish merchant, and his interactions with a Christian Knight and a Muslim Sultan.
